De VPN verbinding wordt gebruikt om naar bepaalde beheer systemen te komen die achter een firewall staan. De VPN verbinding hoeft alleen opgezet te worden wanneer u een applicatie in een eigen container wilt gaan serveren. Met de VPN verbinding krijgt u dan toegang tot het beheer systeem.

Instructie

De volgende instructies moeten uitgevoerd worden op de computer waarmee u verbinding wil maken met de VPN en de andere systemen, onder andere rancher.

  1. Open een webbrowser
  2. Ga naar https://safenet.vpn.rug.nl
  3. Login met uw personeels-account(p-account)
  4. Volg de instructies

  1. Controleer de VPN verbinding.

Linux gebruikers

Er zijn twee soorten oplossingen voor linux gebruikers.
Optie A: Sommige linux varianten ondersteunen via de ingebouwde VPN de Palo Alto configuratie.

  1. Via Instellingen -> Netwerk -> VPN kunt u op de + drukken
  2. Via Multi-protocol VPN Client(openconnect) klikt u op Identity
  3. Hier voert u het volgende in:
    a. Bij naam voert u een naam in
    b. Bij VPN Protocol selecteert u Palo Alto Networks GlobalProtect
    c. Bij Gateway voert u het adres in van de VPN zonder https:// ervoor
  4. Druk op Toevoegen
  5. Probeer de net aangemaakte VPN uit. Hiervoor zijn uw inloggegevens en de Multi-Factor Authenticatie nodig

Explanation

The VPN connection is used to access certain management systems that are behind a firewall. The VPN connection only needs to be established when you want to serve an application in your own container. With the VPN connection, you will then gain access to the management system.

Instructions

The following instructions must be performed on the computer you want to use to connect to the VPN and other systems, including Rancher.

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Go to https://safenet.vpn.rug.nl
  3. Log in with your staff account (p-account).
  4. Follow the instructions.

Verify the VPN connection.

Linux Users

There are two types of solutions for Linux users.
Option A: Some Linux distributions support the Palo Alto configuration through their built-in VPN client.

  1. Go to Settings -> Network -> VPN and click the + button.
  2. Under Multi-protocol VPN Client (openconnect), click on Identity.
  3. Here, enter the following:
    a. For Name, enter a name.
    b. For VPN Protocol, select Palo Alto Networks GlobalProtect.
    c. For Gateway, enter the VPN address without https://.
  4. Click Add.
  5. Try out the newly created VPN. This will require your login credentials and Multi-Factor Authentication.
